Susan L. Trevarthen is a Member of the Firm of Weiss Serota Helfman Pastoriza Cole & Boniske, P.L., chairs the Firm’s Municipal Planning and Land Use Group, and resides in the Firm’s Fort Lauderdale office. She is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell and Board Certified in City, County and Local Government Law by The Florida Bar, and has been recognized as a Superlawyer. She primarily represents local governmental entities in the areas of land use, zoning and local government law, and serves as a Town Attorney.
Ms. Trevarthen’s practice includes extensive constitutional law in her field, such as regulatory taking and Harris Act cases, and land use and zoning decisions raising First Amendment issues, including sign codes, adult use regulations, and regulation of religious uses. She also has extensive experience with school planning and facilities issues. A member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, Ms. Trevarthen has been published extensively and speaks frequently on planning, zoning and land use issues.
She was graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with her law degree and master’s degree in city and regional planning, and received her undergraduate degree from Duke University in Public Policy Studies.
